Philip Burroughs - The Tesla Model 3

The auto industry is changing; electric cars will soon be the new normal. I’ve discussed this in the previous two articles that I’ve written, where I highlight some of the more popular electric vehicles in the world. One of the most popular electric car brands in the world is Tesla, and until recently, the cars have only been available for those with a high amount of disposable income. However, that will all change with the company’s newest model, the Model 3. The car is designed with the consumer’s wallet in mind, and will still feature the state-of-the-art technology and performance that fans expect from the company at a cheaper price point. This cheaper price could certainly help the car reach an even wider audience, which is what Tesla, and any company, is looking for. With that being said, let’s take a look at the new car, shall we?


Recently, Elon Musk, Founder and CEO of Tesla, took to social media to show off the first production model of the car. The design is incredibly sleek and equal parts contemporary and futuristic, as is expected from Tesla. The car’s interior console, and dashboard, is replaced with a large, tablet-esque touchscreen device. From here, drivers can view all necessary information, such as speed, battery charge level and navigation, as well as multimedia information.  


According to Tesla’s official website, the Model 3 is one of their most fuel-efficient and is their most cost-efficient vehicle ever. At its most base price, the car will run $35,000 and can drive 215 miles per charge. The car is also equipped with technology and safety features and is incredibly spacious. The car features fast-charging support and autopilot software. The Model 3 will come in three colors: red, black and silver.


The car was officially unveiled last year by Musk himself, and is available for pre-order now. Tesla hopes that this model will be able to take Tesla from being a niche name to a household name in automobiles, and based on the current pre-orders for the Model 3, that will likely be the case. According to a report from CNN, 300,000 customers reserved their Model 3s last year. So far, 2017 has been a tremendous year for Tesla.
